Respect Falkland votes, says Cameron

Falkland islanders celebrate referendum resultThere Was a turnout of more than 90% of 1,672 UK citizens eligible to vote in a population of around 2900.

David Cameron has called up by Argentina to respect the wishes of the people of the Falkland Islands after they voted to remain a British overseas territory.

The Prime Minister said that the overwhelming vote was the ' result ' can be as clear as possible.

He said Argentina must take "Note" of the referendum and Britain would always defending the Islands.

It follows pressure from Argentina about its claims to the Islands, 31-40 years after the Falklands war with the United Kingdom.

Mr Cameron said: "the Falkland Islanders could not have spoken more clearly. They want to remain British and that display are respected by all, including by Argentina. "

By 796 votes in the referendum by two days, were voted in favour, while only three votes against were 1,513. There Was a turnout of more than 90% of 1,672 UK citizens eligible to vote in a population of around 2900.
